Insulation and Garage Floor

The fireplace, with flue, is completely installed.
This is the guest bedroom.  All walls have been insulated.
This picture was taken while standing in front of the fireplace and looking towards the kitchen.  The window is above the soon-to-be kitchen sink.  The framing behind the drywall sheets is a replication of our current pantry.
This is our huge garage!  I'm standing where the garage door will soon be installed.  It's called a tandem garage.  Two stalls are up front and the right-hand stall goes clear to the back wall of the house.  Rusty says we'll build our next canoe in this space.  Right now it looks like a good place to roller-skate.

Interior work begins

The furnace and duct work were being installed when we last saw the house.  Electrical wires were being pulled to various locations.
Plumbing rough-ins are done.  The tub/shower for guests is installed.
The fireplace is in and the pipes for the chimney are ready to go.
All doors and windows are in.  The siding has been completed.  The shingles are sitting on top, waiting for the roofers.

Siding

Both the north and the south sides of the house have been sided.
Half of the back is sided.  The basement windows and door have also been installed.

We have a roof and a chimney.

The paper is on the rooftop and the chimney has been built.
Kevin and Brett are starting to put on siding.

Trusses are in place

The trusses are in place and the overall shape of the house has been defined.  If you enlarge the picture, you can see Andy (Hartland Homes co-owner and on-site supervisor), Brett (head framer), Lea (Hartland Homes co-owner and relator), and Kevin (assistant framer).

Sheathing Defines House

Now it's easy to see the front door and front porch.  The window on the left is the guest bedroom for all future visitors.  (YOU, I hope!)

What a difference a day makes.

This is the back of the house.  Big change from yesterday, huh?
It was really fun walking from room to room!
This is the big 3rd bay of the garage, which we are very excited to have.
The window in the dining area is much larger than we remembered.
Come on in!

Framing Begins

Workers are preparing the basement for cement.  This is looking into the back of the walkout basement.

Bret and Kevin are the framers.  Bret is always willing to chat with us when we show up.
Today, Thursday, they decked the main floor.
