Kitchen is starting to look pretty good. The under-cabinet lighting is one of my favorite features. The countertops are in and I think they look great!
We've added a built-in butcher block, which will be right next to the stove.
We had to work hard to find a sink that could be a flush mount. I really like this one.
All lights are in. This is the dining area light.
The shower in the master bath is tiled. I really like how it turned out!
The guest bath now has a floor and vanity and stool. The towel bars and TP holder are ready to go in. Add a mirror and I think it will be finished!

Woodwork is stained.
All doors and trim have been stained.
The painters had "cut" the rooms for painting. They were getting ready to roll the paint on the walls.
The fireplace and hearth have been bricked.

Trim and Cabinets
The kitchen cabinets have been installed. The counter top people were out for measurements and so the counter tops should be installed next week.
The master bath will have a double vanity and large storage closet.
Brett and Kevin built the deck off the master bedroom today.
Sidewalks are poured and garage door has been installed. The house can now be officially locked up.
Walk This Way...
As we think about winter and snow, we are glad we have a short driveway and very little sidewalk.
The back of our house faces a city-owned green space that may, or may not, be developed into a park. Right now it's pretty wild with plenty of red-winged black birds. Beyond the green space is a very busy 14th street which will soon have a bike path adjacent to it. Should be easy access for us, huh?
The trim guys have framed in all the doors and now are working on cabinet installation.Monday, July 11, 2011
Everything is White at the White House
Today driveway and sidewalk are being poured.
The front porch has been poured. We love the fact that our design modifications have the porch fully covered by the roof, allowing the porch to receive plenty of shelter from the elements.
None of these things are not pretty to look at, but they all contribute to a more comfortable home. Turbines for taking the hot air out of the attic, exhaust to the outside for the fan above the stove, and plumbing stack. Oh, the roof has been shingled now too.
With sheet rock everywhere, the entire house is white. The kitchen, dining and living room areas are all open; I call it our "big space." This picture is of the living room side of our "big space."
This picture is taken from in front of the fireplace and looks towards the kitchen/dining areas of the "big space."
Looking towards the front door of our "big space." The stairs to the basement are on this side of the half wall.
We do have a couple of bedrooms and bathrooms, but they are not very exciting so I seldom take pictures of them. It is the "big space" that we were wanting to create in our new home. It is where we envision doing most of our living.
