I love the Prairie!

I absolutely love living on the prairie!  This afternoon Rusty and I attended a concert at the Spring Creek Prairie, just outside of Denton, NE.  We had an Italian meal followed by a wonderful concert, then dessert, and then more music.  

As the musicians played, we could look out upon the prairie.


After dinner we exited the building, crossed the bridge and set out on the prairie path.


Most of the path was laden with clover.
I took lots of wildflower pictures.


























As the breeze blew through the cottonwoods they made the sweetest sound.

Flowers, Fence, and The White Family

This is the third spring for us in this house and the flowers are finally starting to look like something.

First we had few tulips.

Then the iris...





Then the lilacs...

The thrifts are just starting.  Note the robin's nest with 3 eggs!
These peonies bloomed successfully for the first time!


My goal is to try and have something blooming all summer.  The yellow yarrow is just opening now and the red yarrow won't be far behind.  If the sun doesn't start shining soon, everything will drown in the rain.

Fencing the back yard is our first step towards getting a puppy in the fall.

Travis, Travis and crew were great to work with!

Uncle Jeff and Aunt Karen, two of our favorite guests, joined us for the weekend.  They were en route from Mount Dora,Florida to Alcova, WY where they will spend the summer.

Lindsay and boyfriend ,Jeff, joined us for the afternoon.
Celeste gets to meet her great, great Uncle Jeff and Aunt Karen.  (See the completed fence in the background?)
Anna and Jake also stopped by to see Karen and Jeff.

It was a busy weekend, but we loved having the White Family gather at our home.
