February

February was a very special First Friday Art Walk for us.  My cousin's son, Michael, had a special showing  of his pottery at his very own gallery, The Blueberry Center Gallery, located in downtown Lincoln.  I can't wait to own one of these pieces.
Michael does beautiful work and the hanging of his pottery was very well done!

The Frosty Bike Ride was held on the 4th of February.  Although it was windy and cold, the sun was bright and the roads were clear.

This lovely officer sang the Star Spangled Banner before the ride.

Volunteers--some of my riding buddies.

That same evening the Fishers joined us for dinner and an overnight.  Pierce was in a hockey tournament in Omaha, so it was a good chance to get together.
Pierce got the hard hat award for being a hard hitting player.  He got to add his name to the hat.

Reece and Gretchen couldn't seem to get enough of each other.  She and the boys ran and played for a very long time, thankfully wearing each other out!

Rusty made gumbo and I made a kid-friendly salad for dinner with the Fishers.

A few days later we had Sissy and TC for dinner.  It turned out to be sort of a pre-Valentines event.  FUN!
TC, a professional photgrapher, used my phone to photograph the cake.

Four-layer chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting and raspberry filling.

One of my many Valentine decorations.

Our mantel with candles and a framed Valentine poem from former National Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser.

On February 14th we went to a fundraiser for Abendmusik.  It was a delicious four-course dinner with two kinds of wine, in an elegantly decorated room at First Plymouth.

Our table guests, Carolyn and Ray Zeisset, and Tom Trenney and his husband, Brent.

The main course was served on china bearing the First Plymouth logo.

After dinner we relocated into the main sanctuary where Tom Trenney played the piano and sang love songs to us.

One of the numbers was sung by Nebraska's most well known tenor, Drew Duncan.
What a delightful evening!  It is my understanding this Valentine special has been going on for four years.  I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an elegant and entertaining evening next Valentine's Day.

I just had to snap a pic when Gretchen walked into this perfect, dog-show stack.  (It is the month of the Westminster Dog Show, right?)

One of our Senators, Deb Fisher, was giving a talk to local LIBA members.  This seemed a perfect opportunity to let her know we were unhappy that she seems to be ignoring us.
TC did a short video of the protest rally.
I made signs and was quoted in the local paper.

Just another ho-hum morning looking out the window here on North 13th Street.
