I decided to try my hand at preparing a traditional Irish dinner on St. Patrick's Day.
| Irish beer, cabbage, boiled potatoes and corned beef. |
| Surprisingly, it was really pretty yummy. |
| Dessert was pistachio pudding with chopped pistachios and whipped cream. |
This month Rusty had made a lot of progress on our future dining room table. Step was one to make the legs, complete with mortise and tenon joints.
| Careful placement of the chisel is needed for the mortise. |
| A steady hand and accurate tap. Little by little the mortise is carved. Only 7 more to go! |
| Next step is to shave each leg on two sides. |
| Shave once, check twice. |
| Slowly and carefully, each leg is shaped. |
I'm not sure of the completion date, but I'm very excited that Rusty is building us a new dining room table!!!
Teammate Maria and I made chocolate-dipped strawberries with chopped pistachios this week.
| We tied ribbons on them to make a strawberry boquet. |
A new brewery, Zip Line, has opened in Lincoln, so Rusty and I tried it out.
| They have the best oatmeal porter I've ever tasted! |
| Cheers! |
Today I volunteered my time to help St. Monica's.
Each year we sew pillows to be sold as a fundraiser for chemically dependent women in need of help.
I planted my pansies in a pot on the front porch on Tuesday. It has snowed every day since then.
I hope Ramona Rabbit and the pansies will survive our late March winter storms.
They are predicting 2-4 inches of new snow tonight!
| We've had howling north winds, low temps, and wind chills as low as 11ยบ |
I'm optimistic that by Easter it will be time to clean out the fireplace for the season. Predictions for Easter Sunday are in the mid 60's. You gotta love March in Nebraska!
Di ... thank you for sharing this ... I love it!! Something for me to aspire to once I retire! :)
